FAA lists proposed changes for 737 MAX return to service

The FAA today released a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for the Boeing 737 MAX, listing its proposed changes for the aircraft before it can return to service. Once officially published in the Federal Register, there will be a 45 day public comment period. This will be followed by additional actions by the FAA and international regulators. Finally Boeing and airlines will need to comply with the terms set forth in any final airworthiness directives before the MAX can return to service. A Middle East Airlines (MEA) Airbus A330-200 has damaged a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER, following a ground strike. The incident occurred in Lagos, Nigeria on 29th July. Ground staff, who were on duty at the time, said that the incident occurred whilst the MEA A330-200, registered OD-MEA, was being pushed back from the gate. Boeing 737 MAX not expected to fly before October, FAA preparing directive

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Tuesday it plans to issue a proposed airworthiness directive for the Boeing 737 MAX in the “near future” to address changes made since the plane was grounded in March 2019 after two fatal crashes killed 346 people. A Southwest Airlines jetliner hit and killed someone as it landed at Austin’s main airport Thursday night, authorities said.
