During the VFR Flight Planning, All student pilots have to use both AFD and VFR Sectional Charts for XC Flight, VFR Flight Planning, etc.
What else information does AFD provide?
The Airport/Facility Directory (abbreviated A/FD), provides comprehensive information on airports, facilities and operations. Traffic pattern altitudes for propeller-driven aircraft generally extend from 600 feet to as high as 1,500 feet above the ground. Unless otherwise indicated, all turns in the traffic pattern should be made to the left.
The FAA updates the supplements every 56 days, making them a staple in pilots’ flight bags;
Pls check the below Charts and try to understand how important they are.
